ETA (6/2/08):: Winners have been announced on the HearJapan website.

HearJapan is an awesome new site whose goal is to make Japanese labels realise just how popular Japanese music is overseas, and from now until May 14th, they're hosting a translation contest in which you can win up to 5000 yen in store credit.

Rules:

  1. The lyrics in their original form (in Japanese script and/or transliterated romaji) will under no circumstances be posted or published nor allowed to be posted or published on your or an affiliate website.

  2. No late submissions will be accepted.

  3. To avoid plagiarism of early submissions, submissions may not be posted before the end of the contest.

  4. No purchase is necessary to participate in the contest, nor will those contestants who will make or have made a purchase on HearJapan receive any special treatment in regards to judging and the awarding of prizes.

  5. In order to be considered a qualified entrant, the following requirements must be met:
    1. The entrant must submit a complete translation of the song 'Brilliant' by D'espairs Ray.
    2. A valid email address must be provided.
    3. All entries must be the work of an individual; team submissions will not be accepted.

How to Enter:

  1. Email me at megchan@gmail.com with the subject line "HearJapan contest".

  2. I will send you the Japanese lyrics for 'Brilliant' by D'espairsRay.

  3. Email me with your finished translation before 11.59pm May 13th (Japan time). (This site gives the equivalent time in major cities. For example, that would be 7.59am in Los Angeles, or 3.59pm in London.)

After the deadline, I will send all submissions on to HearJapan, where they will be judged. Winners will be announced by May 21st.
